How long has the band been together and how did you get together?
As this line up the band have been going now for around 4 years, but we've had a few changes over the years, so overall the band have
been going for around 7/8 years. I remember exactly when it started, I was around 15 and I was sitting on a wall near Bromley South
station with my girlfriend at the time and Dan finnis (Chris's older brother) came up to me and said, we should start a band. Anyways, a
couple years went on and we started finding our sound, Jamie, Andrew and Chris all came to be in the band and that was it, the Snakebite
as you know it was formed, and this is how it will stay (touch wood)....
You played Wacken and also Bloodstock this year... how were the shows? How did you find the experiences differed?
The shows we're immense, a true eye opener. they were both unique in their own way, the German metallers aren't as hard to get going as
UK metallers, they just loved the fact live music was about to come on, and went for it right from the start. But once English people
get going, they dont hold back.
What are your plans for the next few months?
Writing and recording our new album, which should be out around April...
You're still unsigned? Any plans or hopes to sign to a label or would you rather stay DIY?
Yep still unsigned, we would love to be signed to label... don't all unsigned bands? But we would love to be signed to a label that could do
more than what we could do ourselves, so we're just waiting for the right offer to come along. We've had some, but they wanted a lot of
money from us, and then offered us stuff that we could do ourselves.
You have a huge following throughout the metal scene... what do you owe your success to? Any tips for upcoming bands who want to
follow in your footsteps?
Well, I wouldnt say huge! But yeah, to all up and coming bands, have patience! I've known too many bands, to gig extensively for a year or
two, then get pissed off when it isnt going anywhere. If you play it like that, you'll loose the passion and energy. You've got to enjoy it
for it to get anywhere.
Which bands inspired you to play music?
Loooooadsa of stuff! I couldnt list it all. In fact, when Snakebite started out, I played guitar whilst singing; I was more into my
guitar playing back then until I found out I couldn't do both, so I dropped the guitar and got my vocal technique down.
If you could support any band in the world, past or present, who would you choose and why?
Black Sabbath in their early days, like literally shortly after they were [known as] Earth. Because back then this music was new and fresh, not
just a new mix of genres but full on new! So the energy would have been immense, plus you wouldn't have to worry about ripping off
anyone's riffs because no-one would have written them yet! haha!
Is being in the band a full time job or do you all have 'day jobs' as well?
Yep, we all have fulltime day jobs, and sometimes it does get hard, but we enjoy being in Snakebite and respect each others personal
lives, and somehow, it all works out. God knows how...
What's the best and worst thing about being in a band?
The worse thing is the arguments (which you have to expect when you spend most of your time with the same 3 blokes) and the best thing, writing that killer riff, or playing that epic show!
What are your aims for 2011?
New album, tours, gigs everywhere, festivals, everything....2011 will be our year.
