Push to Fire Interview: Emarosa
by James Milne

Emarosa

Ahead of their sold out show at the Roadhouse, Manchester. Push To Fire caught up with Emarosa to talk about their upcoming second album, touring and finally putting the Michael Jackson comments to rest.

So second album coming soon and your first time Headlining the UK, you must be really anxious and/or excited right?
Yeah, comes out on the 27th, we're really stoked. Just kinda hoping it's going to do as well as we think. You know, we're a little hesitant but we've put a lot of work into it so hopefully that'll come through.

Did you find it easier or harder to get through the whole process this time around, what with expectations of the existing fans, gaining new ones and proving to the world that you can do good again?
I don't know I don't want to say there's so much pressure, we're obviously hoping that we're going to do the best but if it doesn't happen, hopefully we won't lose any fans, I'm hoping that we do them justice. If it doesn't do well though we'll just have to do it again, we won't quit.

You guys mentioned on your Tumblr blog that you will be previewing new tracks on Warped, but have you played any on this tour?
Yeah, we've played two new songs for this tour, two of them right? (Will Sowers, Bass, nods in agreement.) Nice and moody.

Actually from what I've seen your touring schedule has and still is very hectic, is it wearing you down or just getting you more pumped to play to loads of people for the next couple of months?
It definitely doesn't wear us down that much, I mean obviously anyone will get tired but we love playing shows, we love touring all the time in different countries. It's amazing. These shows have been ridiculous. So many kids come out to see us and it's like just kind of a shock to us, because it's not like that in America. It''s not as intense, not as good over there.

I have to mention that the internet population, paticularly fans on YouTube, whenever there is a new Emarosa video like to think of you as the new Michael Jackson as you have similar vocal styles which also the press have been open to state. What's your opinion on that, do you even like Michael Jackson?
Yeah (Jonny laughs) I've heard that. I love Michael Jackson man, just being compared to him that's a fucking honour in itself. Everyone has different styles, different everything you know. So it's like someone's going to compare me to someone else, you can compare that to something else. Besides, everyone loves Michael Jackson. If you don't like Michael Jackson fuck off.

The guys in Deaf Havana, reckon you've made some new friends?
We're friends with all of those dudes man, we keep taking shots, going to the clubs every night, just hanging out chilling. All round good dudes. Actually we were talking as a band you know, if we do a headline tour or something, we'll put them on in America. Someday in the future.

Finally it's been a huge pleasure but if anyone are on the fence about checking you out, what can you say to convince they should?
We just believe that you should respect music no matter who plays it, no matter what genre it is what kind. You know, music saves lives. So no matter what that is it's going to save someone's life We feel that if you like our music we appreciate it. If not that's fine with us too.

Big thanks to Lucy and Ben for organising the interview and to Jonny Craig from Emarosa for speaking to James. New self titled album 'Emarosa' will be released 27th June. Find more info and music clips on their MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/emarosa.
