How's things going right now?
Things are going great! We are working on our first ever video and Path of Fire seems to get good reviews so no complaints here!
What have been the bands that have influenced your sound the most?
We grew up listening to bands like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, they play the music we like so I think it’s pretty safe to say that bands like them have influenced us a lot.
Considering how happy your fans are with your style, are we to expect anything radically different on the new album or will it be more of the same bludgeoning loveliness?
People that like us will not be disappointed with Path of Fire, that’s a promise. This is, according to me, our best album. It’s faster than our previous albums and a lot more aggressive.
I want people to know that when they buy an Aeon album they get 100% Death Metal and no one can force us to play something else!
Do you feel you have progressed since the beginning?
I think we have grown from each album, there is always something new to learn and to add on every album. All members in Aeon practice their instruments as much as we can and we push each other to the next level.
Your lyrics display an obviously anti-Christian theme, but songs such as the country version of ‘God Gives Head in Heaven’ add an extra dimension of humour to these beliefs. How strongly do you feel about the subject in question?
I have had my share of problems with Christians and Jehovah’s, it went so far that I got into a lot of trouble with the law. Much of the things I write in my lyrics are things that have happened to me, but when it comes to songs like 'God Gives Head in Heaven' then it's just me having some fun writing lyrics. I have been taking so much shit from people because of that song, but hey that just makes it more fun!
Will we ever see that song performed live?
No
I recall a tour with Cannibal Corpse – how was playing with those guys, especially after Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse said your musicianship was: "among the best in death metal?"
A dream come true! To hang out with Cannibal Corpse everyday for two weeks was awesome, I really hope we can do another tour with them as soon as possible!
Who’s been your favourite band to tour with?
To tour with Cannibal Corpse was huge and a lot of fun. And to share the same stage with Hate Eternal was a blast and all the partying that we did with Misery Index was awesome. We have been very lucky to tour with great bands and people, so it’s hard to pick a favourite.
Can we expect to see you tour England any time soon? Are you playing any festivals or touring this year?
We have done a few shows in England and we love it there- it feels like we have good support from you guys and we will work hard to come back and do some more shows.
We will start to work on tours when the video is done which should be in a few days, the only thing we have booked now is Death Feast Open Air in Germany.
