You will be heading out to Australia soon for Soundwave 2011, what are you most looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to hanging out with a bunch of friends that will be over there and the weather! It's Winter over here in America so it's going to be rad to be able to leave our shitty weather and head over there for Summer. Honestly though it doesn't really matter. It's super hot in California right now even though it' mid Winter. We are spoiled over here.
Will you be checking out any of the other bands that are playing the festival? If so, who?
Yeah we will definitely be checking out tons of bands. Stoked to catch Fucked Up, High On Fire, The Bronx, Slayer, QOTSA, Third Eye Blind and The Melvins to name a few. It's going to be a madhouse. Running around catching different bands.
What will the band be up to after the festival?
We will be heading back to America to get ready for a U.S. tour and a string of shows at SXSW in Austin, TX. We have been in the studio for the last week working on new material so we should have a new release hitting the streets soon. Keep your eyes open for that when it drops.
Do you prefer playing festival shows, or more intimate shows? Why?
They are both rad in their own ways. Festivals are cool because you get to play to tons of people who might not have heard of you before. We played a bunch of festivals in 2010 and they were all really cool. It's fun to play to massive crowds and see what happens. The more intimate shows get way crazier which is always fun. The best shows are when people have nowhere to go. You have to be involved in the show or stand outside.
How would you convince our Australian readers to come and see you play at Soundwave?
You won't see anything else at the festival like our set. Good times in crazy situations. Come check it out and find out for yourself.
