Push to Fire Q&A: There for Tomorrow's vocalist Maika Maile
by Meghan Player

There for Tomorrow

You're heading out to Australia soon for the first time for Soundwave - what are you looking forward to most?
The reputation that the Soundwave Festival holds is enticing enough. We can feel the anticipation the Soundwave folks have helped to build from our half of the world. We're looking forward to actually being able to share the real TFT experience with the fans around the continent.

Are there any bands that you are looking forward to seeing at the festival?
Queens Of The Stone Age and the many friends that will be sharing the bill with us. The line-up is a recipe for some kind of destruction!

It was also recently announced that you will be doing a Sidewave performance alongside Sum 41 - do you prefer doing the smaller more intimate shows?
There are perks to each side of the show playing spectrum, but we came from the crowded, jam packed, play just to play environment. The Sidewaves will surely feel like somewhere close to home.

There is a lot of buzz surrounding your follow up album to debut 'A Little Faster' - can you tell us anything about the new album?
We've become fans of ourselves again. Staying true to what we wanted was the driving force along the way of the recording process this time around. The inspiration just unfolded itself and lead us into writing 13 songs in a week live as a band. There's nothing but excitement within us to show a new era of TFT.

After Soundwave, you will be heading out on tour in the UK with Silverstein. How did that come about?
A lot natural linings and links have recently taken place between us and the Silverstein guys lately. Our management have been great friends with eachother and they are also now label mates with us. They're really lending us a hand in getting over to Europe, which we'll be eternally thankful for.

If you could pick one TFT song that sums up the band, which would it be and why?
"Pages" is the first song we ever officially released is a song that we'll always have a special place for. It still speaks for our steady growth and willingness to change as the years continue to fall into place. Even if we were 17 at the time of writing it, we'll always be able to identify with the message.

How would you convince our Australian readers to come and see you at Soundwave?
I'm not in the sales business, but I can tell you that our fans have really become so involved in the happenings of this band. The energy that is provoked at shows and the unifying sense of the music has banded together a large number of cultures around the world to form the TFT Family. We live and die by passion, so come ready to sweat it out!

Do you have a message for your fans in Australia?
The thing that allows us to go on with our plans is the undying support we receive from our fans. That's why we hold them so close, calling the people in the subculture around our music a family. It gives us all sort of encouragement to know there are people on the other side of the world that have been ready for TFT for years already. Here's to a long journey!
