Push to Fire Q&A: The Spyro
by Meghan Player

The Spyro

Highlights from 2011?
Olli: Definitely our debut album 'Spare Parts For Perfect People'. The whole process, pre-production, recording, album cover contest and releasing gigs. And of course the New Music Contest, where we were selected to TOP40 from 540 contestants. The winner of this competition represents Finland in Eurovision Song Contest 2012.

How will you finish the year?
Olli: This year weŽll play a few more gigs and weŽll be waiting for the results from New Music Contest, who will get to top 12 and further. And we are going to release another single from our album in December.
Antti: And of course we'll be planning tours for spring and summer. Really looking forward to going abroad again.

Do you/or the band have a New Year's resolution?
Olli: Nothing special, we just promise to aim higher, better and bigger. We promise to continue preparing our next album and have lots of fun along the way
Simo: To keep getting people Spyrofied. All around the world

Favourite gig from 2011?
Olli: Album launch gig in Helsinki in October was huge. Lots of people, good atmosphere and Champagne on the stage
Simo: I have to say I really enjoyed our minitour to the Baltics in April 2011. Good shows, super nice people!
Hape: Yeah, I liked the Baltics minitour with Penniless also. But I think the album launch gig was the best this year, at least so far.
Antti: At the moment I think it's the Baltics minitour. My favourite gig from the tour was the one in Riga. But I'm sure the best is yet to come.

What will the band be up to in the New Year?
Olli: The band probably rests because Simo is in New York doing promo ( and not just drinking beer, I hope so) and this goes the New Years evening, rest of the year is going to be full of rockin nŽrollin
Simo: Yeh I'll be celebrating New Years in NYC... but the rest of the year we'll be working on our second album and of course touring as much as possible.
Antti: I will spend the New Year's evening with my family. Lots of food, red wine, peace, silence and sauna.

Favourite band from 2011?
Olli: One of my new favourites is Two Door Cinema Club
Antti: The Wombats.
Hape: Argh, so many good bands... The Ting Tings.
Toni: I'll second Olli
Simo: Impossible to say. Hundreds of great songs come to mind, but no band rises clearly above the others...

Which band should we look out for in 2012?
Olli: Watch out for The Spyro, theyŽre always dangerous and full of surprises.
Antti: Ronya. She's young finnish female artist.

Sum up 2011 in a few words.
Olli: Pretty F**kin good year this far and hopefully getting better.
Antti: Year 2011 has been busy and sweaty, but also successful. Our first album came out and we had a little less but better gigs. We met new fantastic people and we had memorable moments on the road
