Push to Fire Q&A: [ME]'s Mikey Goode (Bass).
by Meghan Player

[ME]

Could you tell us a little about the band and how it started?
Well we are a band called [ME]. We called it this because before the band we were all such a bunch of narcissists that we could never play with any other musicians, but after meeting and falling in love we left our narcasistic ways behind and started loving again. We donate sperm regularly.

Who are your influences when it comes to writing songs/performing etc?
Our greatest influence is time, space and other rules of this dimension. I have taken to using sandpaper on my forehead every night before bed to hopefully one day unblock my third eye so I may be able express my creativity in a more wholistic fashion. We listen to an array of music, I know that a lot of bands must answer these questions in some sort of joking fashion but I'd like to pull away from that trend for a moment to inform you that my singer (Luke....I own him) and I were just listening to Gregorian chants in the car on the way to buy a pen so we can sign a piece of paper, but he just turned it off before exclaiming, "Fuck you, Gregorian bastards".... He's from Queensland, gotta love him.

How would you describe the band and its sound?
Someone said 'theatrical rock' isn't a marketable label, so then someone called us Neo-rock... that's cool. If that isn't marketable, I'll have to star in a sex tape with Kim Kardashian.

You'll be releasing your debut album very soon, how are you hoping people react to it? Have you received any feedback yet?
We were just talking about it, we are super excited, can't wait to go to the UK and record, no distractions; two months of injecting our hearts and souls into a machine and then spewing them out into the stratosphere. And hopefully people will dig it. We just want it to flow like a beautiful and scary life story.

You will also be doing a supporting slot with Dead Letter Circus - what are you looking forward to most about that tour?
Playing to hard rock fans, shit yeah! We are going to put on our Sunday best and go to town.

The release of the debut album could only mean a headlining tour being announced soon - any plans to head out on your own tour soon?
Yeah, but we have some very important things to do before we put too much thought in to that.

How would you convince our readers to come and see you live and/or buy your album?
Roses are red, violets are blue; I have a knife, come to our show.

Much thanks to Mikey for taking the time to answer our questions. Find more info and music clips on their web site: http://meband.com/.
