How is the tour going so far?
The tour is going really well, we have been on taste of chaos for a week now and I think tonight's show is the biggest. Should be a really good show.
How has the experience been in England so far?
They are crazy every show we play here. We have been coming here for years and it keeps getting better and better
Did you ever expect, or intend, that In Flames would become so popular and influential around the world?
We certainly didn't intend to be like this. We just see our self as normal bands, this is our job. We have just been doing things the same as we always have and people like it.
Your album artwork is always very dark and fantastical; what inspires this, and which artwork is your favourite?
We have grown up with our art work now. My favorite is the new one, it speaks about our music the most I think.
Do you have any pre-show rituals, or a band mascot? What is the significance of the Jester?
There isn't really a mascot; we just seem to use the Jester a lot. We generally sit around playing video games and drinking beer before we play.
What do you miss most about Gothenburg and Sweden when you're on tour?
Our families. We all have wives and children, being on tour is hard on them
How much are you influenced by Scandinavian folk music? And why do you think most of the best bands come from your part of the world?
Not at all really, we work on music that we normally work with. What has influenced me a lot recently is Muse. I love their music and sound, I like to play like them.
Is the Scandinavia show in December one of the shows you're most looking forward to?
Of course, it's a home town show. We play our best and get the best response from our home town all the time.
Bassist Peter Iwers has just released a signature bass guitar: congratulations! Is it more for In Flames fans or for bass fanatics?
Yeh, it has been good for him and the rest of the band. We have endorsement deals so we never need to worry about our gear. I'm looking to release some signature sticks soon enough though.
What styles of metal influence you when making your new album?
Not a lot, our music tends to float away from metal a lot now. We are a lot more melodic but with the same metal that we have always had. We have worked on this album a lot as a band, letting things be put in their place and not sticking to a guide line like we used to do.
If you had a chance to work with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?
Muse.
What's your favorite album to date?
They are all different. If you look back from our first albums to our newer albums you can tell a difference. It all depends what mood I'm in.
