You've just finished your tour, how did that go?
Tour was sweet, we had a wicked time and cant wait to get back on the road, we met some amazing people and saw some sick bands, went to quickly maybe shouldnt have called it keep it fast ha.
Which was your favourite show on the tour and why?
Probably has to be the Alton show, we played in a small pub so the vibe was wicked, some of our favourite bands were playing and it all ended with an epic rendition of Pennywise's 'Bro Hymn' involving nearly all the bands that played that night.
Where all the shows with 'Laughing in the Face of'? How did that come about?
Yea was a joint tour, We had played with LITFO a couple of times before and our styles of music work together and we all got along well. Steve (LITFO Guitar and Vocals) actually had the idea and asked us if we were up for it, so we jumped on it.
Are there any places you wanted to go but couldn't on this tour? Why?
We would have loved to play shows with Fair Dos, Radicus and there was talk of going as far as scotland to play with Taking Chase and/or Shields Up, as weve played with the bands before and love the music and the guys, generally though it was just how dates matched up that this didn't happen.
Any funny stories from the tour?
There were loads of funny moments hopefully captured in the tour diary we will release as soon as we get together all the footage from everyone's phone cameras and other crazy devices people just have on them these days, most random was Borg (drummer) turning up after we went to Munch in York with Darko tattooed on his lower lip. The whole tattoo parlour came to the show aswell, Cheers Guys!!
Your live shows are pretty energetic, how do you keep you energy levels up on tour?
Honestly we really have no idea, I think it's the momentum you gather just doing it every night. Also we all fucking love the music so can't help rocking out as much as we do!
Were there any bands who supported you (local acts) that you were really impressed by?
Almeida absolutely killed it at the Southampton show, the whole lot are ridiculously good players. I really enjoyed Truro at the Liverpool as well. In general pretty much all the bands we played with were good.
You mentioned an incident which happened when you were filming your music video - what happened?
Well the first one, Never Coming Home we had the council come and chuck us off the land we were on because it was noise pollution or some shit, they obviously missed some of the audience we gathered during the shoot haha. Luckily we had got all we needed so could move on without an issue.
But also we've just started another video for Chewbacca Defence (exclusive info right there people!) but yea, doing some night shots and Dan (vocalist) managed to drop his house and car keys off the bridge into the river, the boot of his car being storage to over half the merch which is currently still locked in hence no free stickers for tour!
Where can we watch the music video?
All our video content can be watched at www.youtube.com/darkoband, Chewbacca Defence should be out by August provided we keep hold of our keys.
Am I right in thinking that your line up has changed a bit since we last spoke to you in 2010?
I'm pretty sure we had Andy Lambert on drums then who moved on to be a teacher and study in brighton, we then had Neil Coppard on
drums for the video shoot and single recording who left for cruise ship work, and soon after Andy Borg joined hes pretty sick for relentless fast paced beats so we clicked pretty quickly, no pun intended.
When's your new EP out and what can we expect from that? What's it going to be called?
We're hoping for a release at the end of the year if all goes well, as for names and content thats still under wraps so you will have to wait and see.
Where did you record the EP and what stage is it at now?
We are still very much in the song selection process and haven't started the final recording process so very much foetal.
When you aren't playing in Darko what are you doing? Do you have 'day jobs'?
We all have day jobs, Chris builds and repairs instruments, Rob's a guitar teacher, Dan was screen-printer and is looking to pick it up again, Karl works in a music shop and Borg is a window cleaner.
What are your plans for the rest of 2011?
Finishing the next video, Recording the EP and hopefully booking a European tour for early 2012.
