Push to Fire Interview: Mikl from BrokeNCYDE
An Interview by David Andrews and Rachael Mitchinson

So how are you guys finding it touring in the UK at the moment?
It's a blessing to see how many people come out, a lot of people love it, and we're very grateful.

Where do you think everybody heard about the tour?
Probably Myspace, we're a little bit of a guilty addiction, y'know!

What do you like most about Britain?
The fans - they're amazing!

How do the fans in Britain compare to the fans over in America?
They're a little bit crazier over here!

Are you enjoying touring with the other bands on the Crunk Kids tour?
Yeah, all the other bands on here are really beautiful people, we respect them and the things that they do.

Are you looking forward to Warped Tour?
Kinda, it's a big thing to be on, but we have a lot of haters, so that's the only thing I'm not looking forward to!

Do you think you'll get a lot of bad press from them?
We've learned that any press is good, it's no big deal, we don't care! I'm sure everybody gets haters.

How come you're so big in the UK, but it's so difficult for British bands to make it over in the US?
I don't know! I guess we're just really fortunate to have a strong fan base, this is why we do this everyday - for our fans!

What do you think of the pop following over in America, with people such as the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus doing there things?
Anybody that makes music, I respect them, because music's a beautiful thing!

Have you ever been tempted to change your lyrics or your style due to bad press?
We're not gonna change who we are just because of what people think, we got here for a reason, it's because we don't care! We say it how it is, and maybe that's why people don't like us - because we're really blunt!

Do you just let it slide then, for example, when you have a bad review?
The thing that surprises a lot of people is when we have interviews, they see how down to earth we actually are, and that we're really just normal people! Some people come into interviews really not liking what we do, but when they leave, they can appreciate why people like us.

Do you think you promote irresponsible behaviour?
We don't promote it, it's already out there! Y'know, BrokeNCYDE didn't bring this, we're not saying go out there and do it, we're making music saying what's happening.

Obviously you have quite a few sponsors, what's it like being sponsored by a condom company?!
It's great - we're promoting safe sex! That's one thing we do promote, safe sex, because y'know, diseases ain't great! I mean, I've never had one, but people get them! Condoms are a positive thing to be sponsored by!

What other messages do you think BrokeNCYDE give out?
Our older music was about life and relationships, and it was trying to say that sometimes life is hard, but you've got to stay strong, but the main thing is that life is about having fun!

What's it been like working with big stars over in America, like E40?
It's been a blessing, he's a big name in American music, and I'm sure over here too, but it's a blessing to have someone like that help us out!
